Daily Itinerary

Day 1

Fly nonstop on Southwest Airlines to Phoenix, where a hosted lunch begins your Arizona escape. From the desert floor, ascend into the cool highlands of Flagstaff, surrounded by the largest contiguous ponderosa pine forest in the world. Your hotel is nestled among the pines, offering a peaceful retreat after your travels. Little America, Flagstaff – 4 nights (L)

Day 2

Get ready for a “close encounter of the wild kind” at Bearizona, a 150-acre drive-through wildlife park where bison, bighorn sheep, mountain goats, wolves, and, of course, black bears roam free. You’ll also stroll the walk-through section to meet smaller native and exotic animals. This evening, enjoy dinner and live entertainment at one of Flagstaff’s most beloved dining institutions. (FB, L, D)

Day 3

Today you’ll enter Grand Canyon National Park, one of the most awe-inspiring natural wonders on Earth. Your private guided tour will take you along the South Rim to Hermits Rest, stopping at scenic overlooks to capture the canyon’s shifting colors and dramatic vistas. Learn the fascinating story of Fred Harvey and the Harvey Girls in the Bright Angel History Room, browse the historic Hopi House, or walk the Trail of Time, a geologic timeline with stunning views. (FB)

Day 4

Travel the spectacular Oak Creek Canyon, a winding ribbon of road flanked by red rock cliffs and lush forests, to the village of Sedona. You’ll be introduced to Sedona’s highlights on a trolley tour, including a stop at the famous Chapel of the Holy Cross, perched dramatically in the red rocks. After a hosted lunch, enjoy more local touring before returning to Flagstaff in the evening. (FB, L)

Day 5

Begin with a docent-led tour of the Museum of Northern Arizona, where the art, culture and science of the Colorado Plateau come to life. Then explore the legendary Lowell Observatory, where Pluto was first discovered. View the Historic Clark Refractor (1896) and visit the brand-new Discovery Center. As night falls, return for a magical evening under the stars. Flagstaff was the world’s first International Dark Sky City, and tonight you’ll gaze at planets and distant galaxies through six telescopes at the observatory’s open-air viewing area. (FB, L)

Day 6

Travel back to Phoenix for a special hosted lunch accompanied by a live musical performance before boarding your flight home. (FB, L)
