Eagles, Owls and Agriculture

Overview

Unique birds of prey viewing and agricultural education experience

Daily Itinerary

Day 1

Experience the beauty of the Sierra Nevada Mountains in winter as you travel along Highway 50 east to Carson Valley. The annual Eagles and Agriculture gathering focuses on the influx of bald eagles and other birds of prey that come to the valley each year during winter calving season. This remarkable interaction between nature and agriculture attracts nature-lovers of all kinds who come to closely observe raptors and a variety of other birds. Tonight, dinner is hosted with guest presenters. Carson Valley Inn – 2 nights (D)

Day 2

A local guide joins you today as you visit local ranches and observe their operations up close with the men and women who run them. While learning about Carson Valley ranching and conservation, you have the opportunity to observe birds of prey from vantage points not available to the general public. This is a once-in-a-year opportunity for eagle viewing and photography. The afternoon Owl Prowl Tour goes to historic area barns to view owls in their natural habitats. What a special treat! (L)

Day 3

Time to head back over the mountains but not before touring a new local distillery for a nip of vodka. At Lake Tahoe’s south shore enjoy the popular Sunday Brunch at the Forest Buffet, high atop Harrah’s Casino/Resort, before returning home to Sacramento. (BR)
