Sacred Lands of the Southwest - Monument Valley & Canyon de Chelly

Day 1

Fly to Durango, Colorado, and begin your journey through the dramatic landscapes of the Southwest. Travel through the heart of Navajo Country to Chinle, Arizona, the gateway to magnificent Canyon de Chelly National Monument. Settle in for the evening at the Thunderbird Lodge. (L) 

Day 2

Discover the remarkable history and scenery of Canyon de Chelly, where Native American history spans centuries, from ancient Ancestral Puebloan communities to the Navajo families who continue to live and farm within the canyon today. Board 4x4 vehicles for an unforgettable journey deep into the canyon. Travel along the canyon floor, surrounded by towering red cliffs, ancient ruins, rock shelters, and dramatic sandstone formations. This afternoon, return to the motor coach for a scenic tour along the canyon rim, including a stop at spectacular Spider Rock, one of the Southwest's most iconic landmarks. Continue to Kayenta for your overnight stay at the Hampton Inn. (B,L) 

Day 3

Enter the legendary landscape of Monument Valley, perhaps the most recognizable symbol of the American West. Made famous through countless Western films, its towering buttes, mesas, and vast desert vistas have become synonymous with the Southwest. Explore Monument Valley in 4x4 vehicles accompanied by experienced Navajo guides. Venture beyond the main roads and into the backcountry, discovering secluded landscapes and formations that many visitors never see. Along the way, visit locations made famous in films such as Stagecoach, The Searchers, and How the West Was Won. The day ends at spectacular Lake Powell. Lake Powell Resort - 2 nights (B,L) 

Day 4

Experience one of the Southwest's most extraordinary natural wonders: Antelope Canyon. A Navajo guide will lead you into this breathtaking slot canyon, where centuries of wind and water have sculpted the sandstone into flowing curves, graceful walls, and brilliant patterns of light and shadow. As you walk through the canyon, the towering red and orange walls seem impossibly beautiful - nature's own masterpiece. Return to Lake Powell for another relaxing evening along its spectacular shoreline. (B,L) 

Day 5

Travel into southern Utah for a private tour of Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, one of the country's most remarkable animal rescue organizations. Continue to St. George, where a hosted lunch awaits amid the spectacular scenery of Utah's red rock country. This evening, experience the magic of Tuacahn Amphitheatre, a world-class outdoor theater dramatically set against towering red rock cliffs. Day 7

Depart for Las Vegas and your afternoon flight home, taking with you unforgettable memories of ancient canyon dwellings, legendary Western landscapes, magnificent slot canyons and the breathtaking red rock country of the Southwest.
