New Orleans... And All That Jazz

Rest well in downtown accommodations adjacent to the French Quarter

Daily Itinerary

Day 1

Welcome to New Orleans! Rest well in your centrally-located hotel on Canal Street with the Riverwalk and French Quarter only steps away. This city is all about the food. Start it off right with dinner at the New Orleans School of Cooking where you’ll learn the secrets of classic Creole cuisine, followed by a twilight horse and carriage ride through the Quarter. Sheraton Hotel – 4 nights (D)

Day 2

An hour’s drive outside the city places you in the heart of Plantation Country with a visit to the breathtaking Houmas House, the grandest of the Mississippi River sugar estates, built in 1840. You’ll also tour the new Great River Road Museum, see alligators (please don’t call them crocodiles!) in their natural habitat on a Cajun Pride Swamp Tours cruise and have lunch in the popular Dixie Cafe. How about a pub crawl tonight? (FB,L)

Day 3

Start the day with Beignets and Cafe au Lait at famed Cafe du Monde. The National WWII Museum has grown into a massive, world-class museum covering four square blocks. To fuel you through your visit, take a midday break in BB’s Stage Door Canteen for lunch with live entertainment in the style of a nostalgic USO show. You’ll also visit the museum’s unique 4-D theatre for their acclaimed production, Beyond All Boundaries. (CB,L)

Day 4

Plot your own course on a free morning to experience the Quarter at your leisure. In the afternoon explore the city beyond the river on a drive through Downtown, the Garden District and beyond. Tonight, your farewell dinner is served at the famed Court of Two Sisters. Eat all your veggies because you don’t want to miss out on the pecan pie for dessert! (FB,D)

Day 5

Breakfast at Brennan’s is a true New Orleans tradition. Where else will you get a dessert of flaming Bananas Foster following the morning meal? Louis Armstrong International Airport is your next and final stop for you awaiting return flight in the early afternoon. (FB)
