Daily Itinerary

Day 1

Fly away to Green Bay. Home of the Packers, this community is small in size, but huge in spirit. Radisson Hotel (D)

Day 2

Start the day with a tour of hallowed Lambeau Field before heading north to Houghton on Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. The residents of the region are called “yoopers” (say U-pers) and you’ll enjoy honorary status for the next few days. Country Inn & Suites – 2 nights (FB,L)

Day 3

The Keweenaw Peninsula was where most of the country’s copper was once mined. The scenery is memorable with pristine nature, tiny villages and lighthouses. The entire day is a history lesson, told by the people who live here. (B,L,D)

Day 4

Leave the Keweenaw and head east along the shores of Lake Superior to the Shrine of Bishop Baraga and Da Yoopers Tourist Trap, because after all, we are tourists. Your accommodations are the best in Marquette, right on the lake affording everyone a great view of the water. Hampton Inn – 2 nights (B,L,D)

Day 5

Just an hour from Marquette is the small lakeside community of Munising from which you’ll cruise Lake Superior to see shipwrecks on a glass-bottom boat! Along the way, Lakenenland Sculpture Park is a must-see stop. (B,D)

Day 6

Push east to St. Ignace to catch the ferry for the 20-minute ride to Mackinac Island. Prepare to fall in love at first sight with its historic buildings, quaint shoppes and “no motor vehicles allowed” policy. It’s a short horse-drawn carriage ride to Mackinac’s iconic landmark – the Grand Hotel. Built in 1887, the Grand is prepared to satisfy your every desire this evening starting with a formal dinner and ending with live music and dancing. Best of all, you get to do it all over again tomorrow! Grand Hotel – 2 nights (B,L,D)

Day 7

Discover Mackinac’s natural beauty on a morning horse-drawn wagon tour. The filming location of "Somewhere in Time," don’t miss the Grand’s historical exhibits (yes, there IS a framed portrait of Jane Seymour), art gallery, horse stables, Cupola Bar and have a sit on the front porch which, at 660 feet, is the longest in the world! (FB,D)

Day 8

Take the ferry back to the mainland and travel along the scenic east shore of Lake Michigan on the LP (Lower Peninsula) with lunch served in the quaint community of Petoskey. In nearby Acme you’ll discover an incredible collection of mechanical instruments and antique phonographs at The Music House. The centerpiece of the museum, a huge Belgian pipe organ, is simply amazing, and all instruments are in perfect working order as you’ll see… and hear! The short drive to Traverse City is where your return flight awaits. (FB,L)
