Day 4
No visit to Kentucky would be complete without some time along the Bourbon Trail. What's the Bourbon Trail? Like our own wine country, it's a region highlighting the production of Bourbon, with visits to the famed Woodford Reserve and Bardstown Distilleries. Cap off the day in Louisville with a tour of Churchill Downs, the home of the Kentucky Derby.
In keeping with traditional hotels, our home in Louisville is the famous Brown Hotel (Home of the "Hot Brown" - a culinary hot sandwich masterpiece created out of turkey, bacon, tomatoes, and mornay sauce). Brown Hotel - 2 nights (FB,D)
Day 5
Your guided tour of the city gives you a chance to see Churchill Downs and learn the diverse history of the area. Learn about a young man named Cassius Clay, you may remember him as Muhammad Ali, the king of boxing. This is his hometown and today you'll hear his story.
Take a break this afternoon, before the evening brings the crescendo - Thunder Over Louisville! You'll experience the jaw dropping airshow and fireworks display that kicks off the Kentucky Derby Festival. (FB,L)
Day 6
Before heading for home this afternoon, there is time for a little more Louisville. Visits the Louisville Slugger Museum and the Frazier History Museum are slated.
