Daily Itinerary

San Antonio RiverwalkDay 1

Deep in the heart of the Lone Star State is a city that is part American, part Mexican and definitely all Texan, San Antonio. Start with a bird’s eye view of the city over lunch served high atop the Tower of the Americas and strapping in for the 4D film, “Skies Over Texas.” Your historic hotel is located on the famed Riverwalk and features a complimentary Kickback each evening including adult beverages and heavy hors d’oeuvres. Think of it as three bonus dinners! Drury Plaza Hotel – 3 nights (L)

The AlamoDay 2

Joined by a local guide, take a driving tour of San Antonio and along the El Camino Real to San Jose, one of the historic Franciscan missions that first brought the Spanish into the area. Later in the day, visit the most famous of these missions, San Antonio de Valero, or what we know today as The Alamo. Next door, you’ll see the IMAX film production that puts the famous battle into perspective. (FB)

Sports Leisure travelers enjoying a mealDay 3

The Drury Plaza is on the city’s unique Riverwalk which you’ll explore aboard a narrated riverbarge cruise complete with your very own Mexican lunch fiesta. Then you’re off to the home of San Antonio’s beloved shoes, SAS, to visit the old-timey General Store (anyone for a 10-cent Coke and 5-cent bag of popcorn?) and tour the factory. (FB,L)

Texas State CapitalDay 4

Visit Austin, the seat of Texas state government, for lunch and a tour of their beautiful State Capitol. Continue north to Waco, hometown of the HGTV mega-hit “Fixer Upper.” Courtyard by Marriott – 2 nights (FB,L)

Magnolia Market and Silos in TexasDay 5

Waco has become an extremely popular destination of late because of Chip and Joanna Gaines. Thanks to their many commercial and residential “fixer uppers,” the city has never looked better. With a local guide, explore all Waco has to offer including stops at Magnolia Market, The Silos, Baylor University and even the home of the famous soft drink born here, Dr. Pepper. (FB,D)

Cattle Drive in Fort WorthDay 6

A final journey to the north brings you to Ft. Worth’s famous Stockyards. You’ll see the morning Cattle Drive before a lunch where you’ll feast on the meal that made Texas famous: Steak! Onward to the airport and your mid-afternoon return flight. (FB,L)
