Daily Itinerary
Day 1.
All aboard Amtrak's Coast Starlight train for an early morning departure from Sacramento bound for San Luis Obispo, arriving in the afternoon. A box breakfast will be provided for your train journey. Tonight we will go to the Christmas Markets & Holiday Lights Spectacular, featuring over two million Christmas lights! Castle Inn (B,D)
Day 2.
Journey to nearby San Simeon and the estate of William Randolph Hearst. Hearst Castle is now a museum and a California State Park. Christmas has arrived at the Castle and your Grand Rooms Tour will be awash in holiday decor. After lunch, we make our way on motor coach to the Danish village of Solvang. Famously known as the "best small town for Christmas" in California, this evening enjoy the many yuletide activities offered during their annual Julefest. Your overnight accommodation is at the Hotel Corque in the heart of the village. (B,L)
Day 3.
Get a head start on your holiday shopping with free time this morning to explore the village shops. You won't leave town without a sampling of a popular Danish snack. Hmmm, we wonder what it could be? After lunch in Solvang we make our way by motor coach to our final southern destination, the oceanside town of Santa Barbara. Your hotel has recently been renovated and is only a block from the beach. Harbor View Inn - 2 nights (L,D)
Day 4.
Your day starts with an included breakfast at Janine's, just a block from the hotel. A docent-guided tour of the city is offered by coach in the morning, followed by an afternoon free for shopping and personal exploration. (B,L)
Day 5.
Travel to Simi Valley where the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library is located. Your stop includes a docent-guided tour of the museum and a buffet lunch under the wings of the president's Air Force One. Your return flight from Burbank departs in the evening and arrives in Sacramento around 7:30pm. (B,L)
