Day 1
A Deep in the heart of the Lone Star State is a city that is part American, part Mexican, and definitely all Texan, San Antonio. Your historic hotel is located beside the fames Riverwalk and features a complimentary Kickback each evening including adult beverages and heavy hors d'oeuvres. Drury Plaza Hotel - 4 nights
Day 2
Joined by a local guide, take a driving tour of San Antonio and along the El Camino Real to San Jose, one of the historic Franciscan missions that first brought the Spanish into the area. Later in the day, visit the most famous of these missions, San Antonio de Valero, or what we know today as The Alamo. Next door, you'll see the IMAX film production that puts the famous battle into perspective. If you've wrestled up an appetite, tonight's steak dinner is sure to please. You know what they say: Everything's bigger in Texas! (FB, D)
Day 3
The Drury Plaza is conveniently located right on the city's unique Riverwalk which you'll explore aboard a river taxi cruise on which a Mexican lunch fiesta will be served. Then you're off to the home of San Antonio's beloved shoes, SAS, where you'll visit the old-timey General Store (anyone for a 10-cent Coke and 5-cent bag of popcorn?) and tour the factory. Back in town, the Institute of Texan Cultures, a combination gallery and living history museum, tells the story of this great state's past, present, and future. (FB. L)
Day 4
With luck, the blue bonnets will be in bloom as you head into the Texas Hill Country. There you'll visit the LBJ Ranch and tour the Texas White House. You'll also have the opportunity to explore the National Museum of the Pacific War, a world-class museum located in tiny Fredericksburg, the hometown of Five Star Fleet Admiral Chester Nimitz. (FB, L)
Day 5
Time to say adios, but not before getting a bird's eye view of the city over lunch served high atop the Tower of the Americas and strapping in for the 4D film, "Skies Over Texas." (FB, L)
