An Outing in Oakland

“Is it there?” Contrary to Gertrude Stein’s infamous quote, “There is no there there,” Oakland is alive, well and most certainly there!

Once prairie and woodland, its redwood timber built San Francisco. Once the western terminus of the Transcontinental Railroad, the Port of Oakland has grown to become the primary and busiest trade center in Northern California.

With Craig Smith as guide, tour sites in the East Bay’s largest city from its early history to present day assets and attractions including Jack London Square, Preservation Park, Chinatown, Victorian mansions, Lake Merritt, Kaiser Center along with other athletic and cultural sites. Lunch is included at Lake Chalet Restaurant by Lake Merritt.

Each itinerary and especially dining options (indoors or al fresco) are subject to COVID-19 regulations in place on the date of each tour. Updates will be provided in the Final Tour Notes and by your Tour Director upon departure.
