Daily Itinerary

Day 1

Depart early this morning from Sacramento, arriving in Buffalo at dinner time. We’ll dine on the American side of the Niagara River, allowing evening traffic to settle, then cross the border to Niagara Falls, Ontario. When you get to your room, be sure to open the window covering, because it’s a million $$$ view, all lit up at night! Embassy Suites – 4 nights (D)

Day 2

To stand at the heart of Niagara, you’ll first need to descend 125 feet and explore 130-year-old tunnels through the bedrock, but you’ll feel the thunderous vibration of the Horseshoe Falls long before you see them.
The observation deck at the foot of this 13-story-tall wonder will leave you breathless (and maybe a little bit wet), but don’t forget the viewing portals cut straight through the rock, offering a once-in-a-lifetime view of one-fifth of the world’s fresh water crashing down in front of you.
Now that you’ve been behind the falls, let’s cruise to the base of them in our Hornblower boat. After lunch, ride the Falls Incline Railway. Remembering the ‘falls view’ theme, tonight’s dinner is at Element on the Falls. Enjoy a gourmet dinner with a view. (FB,D)

Day 3

Take a morning trip to the village of Niagara-on-the-Lake. Located on the shores of Lake Ontario, this picturesque village is the home of Ice Wine. Produced differently from regular wines, the story and the taste are fascinating. We’ll sample the wine and you’ll have the opportunity to bring some home if you wish. Take time to browse the specialty stores before returning to Niagara Falls. Also featured: The famous Floral Clock. (FB,L)

Day 4

Ships cannot traverse the Niagara River, so they use the locks at the Welland Canal. Let’s go take a look! The Botanical Gardens should be beginning to awaken for the summer, and the Butterfly Conservatory is always a treat. The afternoon is yours for souvenir shopping or just enjoying the view. (FB,D)

Day 5

Our departure is from Buffalo on the U.S. side of the falls. Before we leave, let’s see the IMAX presentation about the falls and visit the Daredevil Exhibit. On the American side, stop at Goat Island, where the falls begin, on your way to the airport. Arrive home late evening. (FB)
