Legendary Aloha! Maui and Kauai

As this is written, Hawaii is slowly opening back up to tourism. We have given them a wide “buffer zone” before we head back to the islands. If there is anything the planet and those of us who live on it could use right now, it’s a BIG dose of Aloha!

If you’ve been once or a hundred times before, you are sure to find fun, new, unique activities on a Sports Leisure trip to the islands. Four nights on each island!

If it’s your first journey to the islands, get excited, because you have chosen to visit someplace truly special. It’s always a privilege to take travelers to Hawaii. We work very hard to make our Hawaii adventures a cut above the rest.

  • Round trip air – one stop to Kauai on the outbound, non-stop return from Maui, inter-island flight from Kauai to Maui

  • 4 nights on Kauai at the Sheraton Kauai in Kapaa, right on the water’s edge, walking distance to shops and restaurants – option for ocean view rooms (slightly higher price)

  • 4 nights on Maui at the legendary Royal Lahaina on Kaanapali Beach – includes upgraded side ocean view

  • Many, many included optional activities – Kauai: Lydgate Chocolate Farm Tour, Foodie Tour (featuring local products), flightseeing, The Russians are Coming (A History Lesson), Kauai River Cruise, botanical gardem tour, visit the land of Puff the Magic Dragon

  • Maui activities: Steel Grass Guitar Concert & Sunset Dinner, Farm to Fork lunch, the Story of the Whales, Maui Plantation, free time in Lahaina town

  • Optional (extra charge) activities you can add. Like a trip to Haleakala Crater on Maui, or flightseeing on Kauai.

Daily Itinerary

Day 1

Depart for Hawaii at 9am this morning, connecting in Honolulu and arriving on Kauai at 2pm. The rest of the day is at leisure

Day 2

Our Foodie Tour of the island is our own creation. Stop for locally made products like coffee and tea, jam, sweets and the best burger this side of Japan! Did you know the Russians once came to Kauai? It’s true and we have the story (and can show you where they stayed)!  (FB,L)

Day 3

Lydgate Chocolate grows cacao right on the island! Your tour includes chocolate and native fruit tasting, plus an education on the history and the how to’s of cultivating chocolate. Lunch is al fresco at the Gaylord Plantation. Rum tasting anyone? The rest of the afternoon is free to enjoy the resort, browse the nearby shops perhaps relax by the pool or on your lanai. (FB,L)

Day 4

Flightseeing of the island in the morning, a memory you’ll always treasure. The western beaches are not accessible by road. The northern part of the island is home to Hanalei Bay, the home of the mythical Puff, The Magic Dragon, from the song by Peter, Paul and Mary. Explore Puff’s home today and tour one of the island’s botanical gardens without walking! We’ll even stop for shaved ice. Dinner tonight at The Plantation at Poipu Beach, a Sports Leisure tradition. (FB,D)

Day 5

Change islands this morning, making the short flight to Maui. On arrival, we’ll take you to another favorite spot, Hali’imaile General Store, for lunch. Yum, and double yum! Stop at the Maui Plantation as you make your way around the island. It’s an opportunity to learn about some of Hawaii’s industry, past and present (sugar cane and pineapple, mostly gone).

Your accommodations are in a classic Hawaiian hotel, the Royal Lahaina. A medium-sized property, you’ll find it easy to get around. You have a room with a view. Join us for a welcome cocktail after arrival. (FB,L)

Day 6

Come with us into Lahaina town today for a history lesson. This whaling port has a colorful past. The afternoon is free at the resort. Tonight, a steelgrass guitar concert after a sunset dinner. Get into the Hawaiian music vibe as your dream vacation continues. (FB,D)

Day 7

Head up to Maui Hill Country today to visit a local farm. It’s not just any farm. What they grow becomes your delicious lunch! You can even follow along as your hosts gather the harvest. The rest of the afternoon/evening is at leisure. (FB,L)

Day 8

IThe last day of your vacation is left free to shop, take a tour to Hana or Haleakala, or just relax. At the orientation dinner before the trip, we’ll fill you in on all of the optional activities available to you. (FB)

Day 9

After a leisurely morning, it’s time to head for home. Our non-stop flight arrives in Sacramento at 11:05pm. (FB)
