Daily Itinerary
Day 1
Fly away to the Appalachian Mountains for a trip guaranteed to put you in the Christmas spirit! This is absolutely Asheville’s best address, and we do believe the Vanderbilts would agree. Inn at Biltmore Estate – 2 nights
Day 2
Explore downtown Asheville, a once-sleepy Southern city that’s now a fun and funky hot spot for culture, the arts and culinary innovation. Your ultimate Biltmore experience begins as the sun starts to set. Following dinner in the Stable Loft Café, tour the grand mansion (led by your personal audio guide) with the halls illuminated by twinkling candlelight and decked with holiday finery. (FB,D)
Day 3
You’re off to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee; the home of Dollywood. You’ll have the better part of the day and into the night to explore the popular theme park illuminated by millions of twinkling lights. Imagined and owned by beloved local Dolly Parton, the park focuses on keeping the music, crafts and traditions of the Great Smoky Mountains alive and well. The rides are only a bonus for those wishing to imbibe! Rest well tonight with accommodations conveniently located on the park grounds. DreamMore Resort and Spa (FB,D)
Day 4
It’s a little over 200 miles across the heartland of Tennessee to reach the Capital City of Nashville, better known as Music City USA. The vibrant downtown is at your doorstep, so get out and explore. Who’s been to a real honky-tonk before? It’s Friday night and the joints will be jumping! Embassy Suites Nashville Downtown – 3 nights (FB,L)
Day 5
Joined by our expert local guide and long-time friend Peggy Loftus, explore Nashville from top to bottom including stops at Centennial Park, The Parthenon and a historic recording studio located along Music Row. Lunch is served up at a trendy Nashville “hot chicken” eatery, with mild available for the faint of heart! Tonight visit the hallowed Ryman Auditorium for an amazing night of Christmas cheer with the incomparable musical duo (and married couple) Amy Grant and Vince Gill. (FB,L)
Day 6
Take a drive into the country to visit the historic home of President and Mrs. Andrew Jackson – The Hermitage – beautifully decorated for the season. In the afternoon visit the Opryland Resort Hotel for over-the-top holiday displays throughout their complex of enclosed atriums. Free time for shopping and dinner at Opry Mills precedes the evening performance of the Opry Country Christmas Show. (FB,L)
Day 7
Located only a couple blocks from the hotel are two of the finest music museums in the world, the Country Music Hall of Fame and the new National Museum of African American Music. You’ll visit your choice this morning before heading to the airport for a mid-afternoon return flight. (FB)
