Daily Itinerary

Day 1.

An evening morning departure will have you in DC by late afternoon in time for dinner and a good night's rest. Hilton Hotel National Mall - 3 nights (D)

Day 2.

Embark on a comprehensive city tour with an informative local guide who will spin tales of Washington's dynamic past and present while orienting you to the National Mall, ending with a visit to the hallowed halls of the United States Capital. (L)

Day 3.

Return to the National Mall, home of the Smithsonian Institution and many of our National Museums, for an opportunity to explore to your heart’s content. What is it you’ll wish to discover? Dorothy’s red ruby slippers? The gowns of the First Ladies? Priceless works of art? The Hope Diamond? A moon rock? The bones of a prehistoric whatchamacallitasaurus? They’re all there, and so very much more in this, the largest museum collection in the world! After an early dinner head to the Kennedy Center for a performance of the Sensational Illusionists. The best-selling magic show in the world returns to North America with a brand new line-up of tricksters, conjurers and illusionists. Guaranteed to astound, baffle and entertain, this magic spectacular has played to sell-out crowds the world over. (D)

Day 4.

All aboard for the Big Apple. We will travel by train and arrive at Pennsylvania Station in a mere four hours. Upon arrival we will have a highlights tour of NYC prior to reaching our Times Square hotel. The family-style Italian feast at Carmines, a Theatre District tradition, concludes the day. Marriott Marquis – 3 nights (D)

Day 5.

The day begins with the “Behind Broadway” experience, giving you a feel for how it all works – auditions, rehearsals, readings, financing reviews – you name it, you will learn about it. We will take you behind the scenes to meet performers and even a veteran Broadway reviewer; an “audience matchmaker” as our friend Peter Filichia likes to refer to his talents. We will take a break for lunch at an authentic New York Jewish delicatessen, and return to the hotel mid-afternoon for a short break. Soon you’re off to an early dinner and a performance by the New York Pops Orchestra at famed Carnegie Hall. (L,D)

Day 6.

Take the subway Downtown to Battery Park where you’ll board the ferry bound for Liberty and Ellis Islands. So many inspiring American stories rise from these two islands! Some may elect to move at a faster pace, leaving time to explore other nearby sites such as the World Trade Center, South Street Seaport, Wall Street or Bowling Green. In the evening the curtain rises on a Broadway show. Our selection will be announced after the first of the year.

Day 7.

This morning we are off to “Da Bronx.” Learn the story of how this neighborhood got its unique name – see the sights, meet the people and dine in a neighborhood Italian restaurant. After lunch visit pastry and pasta shops for dessert and a souvenir taste of the Bronx. Visit a NYPD Precinct and NYFD Company – meet the first-responders who keep the city safe. After a fun filled day we will make our way to the airport and return home to Sacramento in the evening. (L)
