Day 1

Day 2
Follow the Freedom Trail on your guided city tour and visit such landmarks as the Old North Church where Paul Revere began his famous midnight ride. In the evening, dinner at popular Legal Seafood precedes your arrival at Symphony Hall for an evening performance of the celebrated Boston Pops Orchestra. (B,D)

Day 3
The Cape Neddick lighthouse welcomes you to Maine, the southernmost in the state. For the next few days, your drive along the rugged Maine coast will prove both picturesque and awe-inspiring. The quaint seaside village of Kennebunkport is your overnight stop. Day 4
Depart from the port of Kennebunkport on a cruise aboard a genuine lobster boat. Following, a community tour focuses on the history of this very “presidential” shipbuilding town. (Former President George Bush’s summer estate is here.) Next, you’re off to Mt. Desert Island which includes the popular community of Bar Harbor and the bulk of Acadia National Park. Day 5
A guided tour of Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park start the day. Keep your camera handy for photo stops at Cadillac Mountain, Thunder Hole and Sandy Beach. In the afternoon, you’ll visit the new Native American history museum and learn more about the state’s chief industry at the Maine Lobster Museum. Day 6
En route back to Portland, stop off at Freeport, home of outdoor outfitter L.L. Bean for a bit of spectacular shopping among 100 outlet stores. Portland is Maine’s largest city. Your guided tour includes a stop at the state’s oldest lighthouse, located at the edge of town. This will put you in the mood for your dinner speaker, the area’s foremost lighthouse historian. Day 7
Following breakfast, visit the Portland Harbor Museum to learn about the rich maritime history of Casco Bay. Then you’ll be treated to a private, guided tour of the Spring Point Ledge Lighthouse, a private beacon opened exclusively for you. An afternoon flight returns you to California. (B)
