Three days, four world-class museums

Trip Itinerary
  • Day 1

Fly to Southern California this morning. Enjoy lunch on your own at the famous LA Farmers Market before visiting the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Enjoy several wonderful exhibits including Renoir in the 20th Century and American Stories: Paintings of Everyday Life 1765-1915. The Renoir exhibit examines the last three decades of his career when he left impressionism and turned to art that was more decorative and classical. American Stories will feature nearly 100 narrative paintings by American masters such as Thomas Eakins, Mary Cassatt, and John Singer Sargent. You can also spend part of the afternoon exploring the nearby Page Museum at the La Brea Tar Pits or the Peterson Automotive Museum. Check into your hotel in the later afternoon. Hotel Angeleno – 2 nights

  • Day 2

Your hotel is a part of the popular Joie de Vivre chain of boutique hotels and is located very close to the J. Paul Getty Center. The hotel offers a shuttle to the center throughout the day so you can come and go as you please. Take in the many exhibits and be sure to save time for Leonardo da Vinci and the Art of Sculpture: Inspiration and Invention. The first Da Vinci exhibit to visit Los Angeles in decades includes original drawings and other items by artists that inspired Da Vinci, or were inspired by him. Enjoy lunch at either of the two cafes or in the full service restaurant at the Getty on your own schedule. (B)

  • Day 3

Travel to San Marino to visit the Huntington Library and Gardens. The new Chinese Garden is exquisite and so is the recently expanded Galleries of American Art. Lunch is, again, at your leisure, allowing you to explore on your own time. Nearby in Pasadena, make one final stop at the Norton Simon Museum. The museum is known for its fine collection of European and Asian art by such masters as Reuben, Rembrandt, Monet, and Degas alongside the vibrant palettes of van Gogh, Cézanne and Gauguin. Your return flight departs in the late afternoon. 900/1050 Gold Passport Points (B)
