Day 1
Begin your vacation to the coast with exclusive door-to-door service to the Sports Leisure office and meet your fellow travelers. Once onboard SuperCoach III, travel down through the bountiful Salinas Valley to Santa Maria. Famous for tri-tips and “Santa Maria BBQ” this quiet community is also home to beautiful flowers and abundant fields of produce. Your hotel this evening is the beautiful and historic Santa Maria Inn.

Day 2
Throughout the coastal area, flowers abound and Lompoc celebrates today with an annual parade. Enjoy community pride as everyone in town gets into the spirit of flowers on this day. Following lunch at the Hitching Post in the small community of Casmalia, (population 138), you’ll spend the day learning more about the flowers and strawberries that are grown in the area. Maybe you’ll even have a chance to go out and try your hand at picking a few berries for yourself! As the day draws to a close, find yourself near the historic pier on the beach in Ventura and settle into your room at the Crowne Plaza Hotel – 2 nights.

Day 3
Enjoy a guided tour in and around Santa Barbara this morning. Highlights include the often photographed and filmed Santa Barbara County Courthouse and the Old Santa Barbara Mission; known to many as the Queen of the Missions. This afternoon enjoy some free time for browsing along Stearn’s Wharf or catch the electric shuttle up to State Street for some shopping on the El Paseo. Or take a quiet stroll along the beachfront… the afternoon is yours to enjoy.

Day 4
Drive throughout the gorgeous Santa Ynez Mountains this morning to the quaint village of Solvang, an early Danish settlement, which has faithfully maintained the flavor of Denmark. Browse the shops and try several of the delicious pastries before continuing up the coast to San Luis Obispo. Your accommodations this evening are at the Apple Farm Inn, a Sports Leisure favorite. With fresh cookies offered in the evening, it feels like you are staying at grandma’s house. Tonight, enjoy the antics and laughter at the Great American Melodrama in Oceano as your time along the coast draws to a close.

Day 5
Travel north today leaving the rich fertile valleys of San Luis Obispo and Salinas as you cross over Pacheo Pass. Lunch is a taste of the fresh bounty from the valley before continuing to Sacramento, arriving in the early evening.

“The Rock” Featuring a cruise to Alcatraz
The sights and sounds of Alcatraz come alive during your visit to “The Rock.” Cross over the Bay Bridge and travel along the Embarcadero to the Fisherman’s Wharf for lunch at one of the area’s oldest restaurants, Scoma’s where you will have a choice on site from a limited menu, including the fresh catch of the day. Our cruise departs for Alcatraz midafternoon with time on the island for exploring on your own with the included audio tour. Return to Sacramento following your visit.
