Your morning air departure from Sacramento lands in the early afternoon. Perhaps you’d like to do a bit of personal exploration of your historic hotel – don’t miss the rooftop pool – before the Drury’s complimentary “Kickback,” including adult beverages and snacks, served daily at 5:30pm. Be sure to leave room for your Welcome Fiesta Dinner and a dazzling musical performance of country and western favorites at San Antonio Rose Live in the historic Aztec Theatre.

    Day 2

Joined by a local guide, Sissie Henges, take a driving tour of San Antonio and out into the countryside along the El Camino Real to see the historic Franciscan missions that first brought the Spanish into the area. Later in the day, visit the most famous of these missions, San Antonio de Valero, or what we know today as The Alamo (below right). Next door, you’ll see an IMAX production, Alamo – The Price of Freedom, a film that puts the famous battle into perspective. If you’ve wrestled up an appetite, tonight’s dinner, served river-side at the Texas Land and Cattle Company, is sure to please. We’re talking steak, y’all.

    • Full breakfast and dinner are included this day.
  • Day 3

The Drury Plaza is conveniently located right on the city’s unique Riverwalk (pictured on previous page) which you’ll explore on a guided walking tour, then aboard a river taxi cruise upon which lunch will be served. The afternoon is left at your leisure. There’s so much to do, see, eat and drink in this vibrant city. You’ll have no trouble filling your time. Perhaps you’ll join your Tour Director for one of his famous Optional Expeditions. Just don’t expect to return until the cows come home!

    • Full breakfast and lunch are included this day.

    Day 4

With luck, the blue bonnets should be in full bloom as you depart San Antonio for Fredricksburg, located deep in the heart of Texas Hill Country, about an hour to the north. There you’ll visit the National Museum of the Pacific War, so placed because this was the hometown of Five Star Fleet Admiral Chester Nimitz, who at the height of World War II, commanded more than two million men, 20,000 planes and 5,000 ships. As you complete your touring, drift out and enjoy Fredrickburg’s beautifully restored historic downtown. A German lunch pays tribute to the community’s original settlers. The Wild Seed Farm is a must-see stop on the way back to San Antonio.

    • Full breakfast and lunch are included this day.
  • Day 5

The state’s dramatic history is displayed nowhere better than at the Institute of Texan Cultures, a combination art gallery and museum that tells the story of this great state, past, present and future. Say goodbye to San Antonio, but not before lunch at the famous Mi Tierra Café y Panaderia, an institution since 1941, located in the vibrant Mexican Market Square. Grab that perfect souvenir before heading to the airport for your flight back to Sacramento, departing in the late afternoon.

    • Full breakfast and lunch are included this day.
