The Oregon Chocolate Festival
3 Days, March 2nd - 4thLast year a group of chocolate lover’s traveled to Ashland, Oregon on a trip Sports Leisure offered for the very first time. We have to say the trip was a “chocolaty” success. There was chocolate in each course at the elegant Chocolate Maker’s Dinner and at the Vendors Showcase, plenty of chocolate samples…did you know they pair chocolate and pepper in a chocolate bar? And if you aren’t satisfied with just eating chocolate, you can get a chocolate facial mask or chocolate infused soap. It was all there. So much chocolate, so little time!

Day 2
Enjoy a leisurely morning, with perhaps a walk around downtown Ashland to browse the unique shops, then head back to the Ashland Springs Hotel for the Chocolate Festival Showcase. Over 30 vendors from around the state will showcase their specialties and offer samples and information about their creations. You’ll have plenty of time to sample and browse. Following the showcase, we reluctantly leave the land of chocolate and head for Redding in the afternoon. A reception awaits us after we check in to the Red Lion Inn. Dinner tonight is at Cattlemens Restaurant followed by a unique performance, “A Touch of Classical Piano,” at the recently restored Cascade Theater. The annual program will feature a performance of Beethoven’s Appassionata Sonata, a work by Franz Liszt, and the U.S. premiere of a new composition by local composer Duane Hampton.

Pick up an ice cream cone, or a sandwich to hold you over until dinner, along with local products from all over Northern California to take home. Arrive in Sacramento in the late afternoon.
