Last year two sold-out groups experienced our Snow Train tour to Reno onboard Amtrak’s California Zephyr. The train departs Sacramento at 11am and arrives in Reno around 4pm. The scenery should be beautiful with snow-capped mountains and gorgeous views of Donner Lake from high above its southern shore.
The package includes the California Zephyr to Reno, a boxed lunch, accommodations, casino bonuses, and return transportation on SuperCoach III. 250 Gold Passport Points

SuperCoach III picks you up from one of our four convenient departure points and delivers you to Sacramento’s historic rail station. Don’t worry about your luggage – it will travel onboard the motorcoach! Once aboard the train, enjoy relaxing views from your reserved seat or from the domed observation car. A box lunch is included for you to take with you so you won’t miss a thing! In Reno, enjoy dinner at your leisure and gamble the night away. Casino bonuses are included but subject to change.
- Silver Legacy Casino/Resort
- Boxed lunch is included this day.
An optional stop at the Nugget in Sparks on the second day will be offered and includes an additional casino bonus if you participate. You can also stay downtown – the choice is yours. In the early afternoon, return to Sacramento onboard SuperCoach III.
Our always popular Day at the Races includes a buffet lunch and seating in the enclosed Turf Club at Golden Gate Fields by beautiful San Francisco Bay in Berkeley. Enjoy the races from a comfortable table with betting windows conveniently nearby and television monitors throughout the dining room. We’ll arrive to get settled before post time and the first race.
Two 3-night hotel stays anchor this itinerary, full of “rarely or never before visited on a Sports Leisure tour” attractions/destinations. One stay is in a historical city, one in a historical property. Allow us to offer some clues as to your destinations: There is dinner one night in an exclusive club, and at one point in your travels, you’ll ponder where to cross the river. You’ll meet a prince and a general, and learn of some fictional characters from a place called “Downton Abbey” you may enjoy.
Considering the calendar, fall foliage could come into play, but the big question is, “Will they be better inside or out?” The colors we mean. Both hotels are named for famous American families. Visit a historic but new castle (How can it be both?), explore the halls of a famous house of learning.
