Day 1
Arrive in San José where you will be greeted by your Costa Rican driver and English-speaking guide. Enjoy an overnight stay at the Marriott Hotel, located in a 17th-century colonial hacienda.

Day 2
Witness spectacular views of Poás Volcano at the most-visited National Park in Costa Rica. Continue your journey to Sarachí, famous for its local arts and crafts. A traditional lunch precedes arrival at your exclusive resort home, located at the base of Arenal Volcano. On a clear night, you can see the spectacular lava flow high above.

Day 3
Embark on a relaxing trek on the famous Hanging Bridges to experience the rainforest from three perspectives: The ground, treetops and sky. Lunch is served at La Mansion, a gourmet restaurant on Lake Arenal.

Day 4
Experience the most spectacular views of Arenal from the Sky Tram, a ride through the rainforest to the observatory. The more adventurous can choose the Sky Trek, a “zip line” that offers a safe and easy ride through the canopy from platform to platform. Take a guided tour of the resort’s wildlife preserve, soak in the naturally heated springs and enjoy an extravagant buffet dinner.

Day 5
Drive along the scenic Pan American Highway to Manuel Antonio Park on the Pacific coast, and check in to your deluxe hotel with a tropical view.

Day 6
Explore Manuel Antonio Park and observe sloths, birds and reptiles; admire orchids, butterflies and tropical trees, all in a breathtaking ocean-side setting. The park is home to three of the four monkey species in Costa Rica, and you’ll have ample opportunities to photograph them up-close.

Day 7
Navigate the wonders of the mangrove ecosystem on the relaxing estuary cruise. This tour provides an ideal opportunity to observe herons, kingfishers and white-faced monkeys. Spend the rest of the day at your leisure.

“The Rock” Featuring a cruise to Alcatraz
The sights and sounds of Alcatraz come alive during your visit to “The Rock.” Cross over the Bay Bridge and travel along the Embarcadero to the Fisherman’s Wharf for lunch at one of the area’s oldest restaurants, Scoma’s where you will have a choice on site from a limited menu, including the fresh catch of the day. Our cruise departs for Alcatraz midafternoon with time on the island for exploring on your own with the included audio tour. Return to Sacramento following your visit.
11th Annual Christmas Mystery Tour
For the first time in 11 years, we are headed to a traditionally “warm weather” destination for our mystery tour. So where would that be… Would you like some clues? Heck, we can do that.
Circle the wagons, you never know what could happen. Ok, maybe not here, but you can’t be too careful. Look, it’s sorta like a moat. Oh, never mind, that’s in another country. We have been surrounded by water for a couple of days, it’s good to get back to the mainland. An art walk? Look, there’s a VERY famous couple. Come over here and let’s shed some light on this subject. Ah, now I see. Go for a swim? At this time of year?
See, now you have all the clues you need to figure out where we are going. Let’s share some real facts. The trip visits three decidedly different destinations, staying 2 nights in each, so it’s a moderately paced tour. Mark and Chris will be your hosts. This is a fly-away trip, so airfare is included. The accommodations are varied, but all very nice, especially if you like something a little different for a couple of nights. (That hint will keep everyone buzzing – wait, is that another clue?)
Those who have traveled with us on previous Mystery Tours know we never miss a feeding. Call us whatever you want, but never call us late to dinner. In honor of that, we have included breakfast each morning, one lunch and five dinners (all but one night), for a total of 12 included meals.
