Day 1
Because some have visited Newport with us before, this itinerary is a bit different. We’ll land in Portland mid-morning and drive to Tillamook, home of the famous cheese. Lunch is included at The Blue Heron, and then it’s all aboard the Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad for a short ride along the shores of the Pacific and past some of the picturesque dairy farms. (Where did you think all that cheese comes from?)
From trains to planes, your next stop is the Tillamook Air Museum, a huge former Navy blimp hanger that houses a variety of fascinating flying machines. Arrive in Newport at day’s end. A casual dinner is catered to the hotel. (L,D)

Day 2
Newport is home to a premier aquarium and a lesser-known marine facility, the Hatfield Research Center. This morning, we take you behind the scenes, to learn about the study of marine creatures. Lunch is a special treat, in nearby Agate Beach at a beautiful inn. Arrive back at the hotel about 2pm, with the rest of the afternoon at leisure. Walk on the beach anyone? Dinner is a unique treat tonight, as you cruise Newport Harbor and enjoy a fine dinner on the water. (B,L)

Day 3
Journey to nearby Lincoln City this morning, where you have choices. Visit the local casino for a few hours or enjoy a glass-blowing demonstration (Lincoln City is the self-proclaimed glass-making capital of the world) and then have lunch in town. Return to Newport in mid-afternoon. Optional shopping at the historic waterfront is offered. (B,D)

Day 4
Today is a day for lighthouses and we’ll visit several along the coast. Two of them are “walkable,” and every one offers picturesque views of the magnificent Oregon Coast. After lunch in a quaint Oregon village, we arrive at the airport in time for our return flight. (B,L)
