Trip Itinerary

Day 1

Fly to San Diego where you will enjoy a city tour and lunch in Old Town. Your home for two nights is in the community of Rancho Bernardo, near Escondido and the Lawrence Welk Resort. An included buffet dinner at the resort precedes a little time to explore the memorabilia of the Lawrence Welk Museum. Tonight’s performance is the classic Christmas tale, “It’s a Wonderful Life.” The uplifting story, made so popular by the performance of Jimmie Stewart, will have you wishing the Christmas season was even longer! Day 2

The San Diego Wild Animal Park is the next best thing to going on safari in Africa. The 1,800 acre park is made of enclosures filled with animals from all over the world. Your admission today includes access to the grounds with several exhibits, shows and displays. For those who are interested, you may add a special photo safari that takes you into the enclosures by special vehicle to give you an up-close-and-personal visit with the animals. This experience is an additional $90 per person. Return to your hotel in the late afternoon before dinner and your return to the Welk Resort for a second show, “Big Band Christmas,” featuring four singers, a 10-piece big band, and a swingin’ repertoire. Day 3

Head back into San Diego this morning pausing along the waterfront at the USS Midway Museum, featuring 60 exhibits and 25 restored aircraft. A short flight home returns you to Sacramento in time for a late afternoon arrival and plenty of time to share New Year’s Eve with friends and family. (B,L)
