Day 1
A morning departure from Sacramento brings you to Albuquerque in time for lunch in Old Town. Travel north to Santa Fe in the afternoon. Founded in 1607, the city welcomes you with open arms, just as she has explorers for over four centuries.

Day 2
Following breakfast, take a walking tour of Santa Fe’s Plaza. Your local guide will bring to life the area’s colorful history, complemented by visits to the Loretto Chapel, home of the Miraculous Staircase, and historic St. Francis Cathedral. Lunch and the afternoon are at your leisure. Perhaps visit the Palace of the Governors or the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum? Tonight, we gather for a special dinner at a popular local eatery.

Day 3
Visit Bandelier National Monument, an ancestral Pueblo community established centuries ago, and view the ancient cliff dwellings hewn from the soft tuff rock. Continue on to Los Alamos, location of the government’s once top-secret Manhattan Project. Nearby El Santuario de Chimayo is an adobe church believed to be built on ground that possesses curative powers. Many have been restored to health by the sacred earth.

Day 4
Return to Albuquerque for your flight to Texas. Begin your San Antonio visit at the Institute of Texas Culture, a huge museum covering all things Texan, then head to your hotel located along the famous Riverwalk. Tonight’s dinner serves up serious Texas beef!

Day 5
See the city from top to bottom on a guided tour including a drive along on the El Camino Real, originally serving the chain of missions founded in the middle of the 18th century, and today protected as a National Historical Park. Lunch is served in the Victorian-era King William District. Your afternoon and evening are at leisure.

Day 6
Spend a day in the country exploring the nearby small towns of New Braunfels and Gruene. Both founded by German immigrants in the middle of the 19th century, they offer an interesting blend of Old World charm and Texas style. Tour historic sites, including Texas’ oldest dancehall, and enjoy a riverside barbecue luncheon before browsing amongst the many antique and gift shops, most located in beautifully restored homes and buildings.

Day 7
Say goodbye to San Antonio, but not before visiting the hallowed site where the city was born. Commonly known as The Alamo, Mission San Antonio de Valero was established in 1718. Of course, it is best known as the cradle of Texas liberty and the infamous 1836 battle that made “Remember the Alamo” a rallying cry. Begin your visit with a dramatic representation of the fateful battle at the adjacent IMAX Theater. Lunch is served in the city’s Mexican marketplace, El Mercado.
