Disneyland’s Diamond Celebration

3 Days, November 2nd - 4th Sold Out / Waitlist

Relive a piece of the past with a visit to the most wonderful place on earth.

Chris thought it might be fun to celebrate Disneyland and Mark’s 60th birthdays, since they were “born” a month apart. So expect some craziness in the Sports Leisure tradition along the way on this one. Fly to Orange County, then head to Disneyland for a guided walking tour, featuring some little known landmarks within the park. Enjoy lunch at one of the park’s many restaurants and then head to your hotel for a mid-afternoon check in. Return to the park in the evening to experience the light show, the parade, the fireworks. Since July of 1955, Disneyland has been making children of all ages smile.

Day 2 is an all-park day. You can choose a package that allows you to visit both Disney parks (Disneyland and California Adventure), or just concentrate on the original. We will take a break in the evening to have dinner at The White House in Anaheim, and then return for evening activities if you wish.

On Day 3, tour the greater Orange/Anaheim area, and learn how it used to be. Have a chicken lunch at Mrs. Knott’s restaurant at Knott’s Berry Farm, and learn about the invention of the boysenberry. Fly home mid-afternoon on Day 3.

Oahu, A Special Extension to your Vacation

2 Days, November 9th - 10th

Leave Sacramento two days ahead of the main group and fly non-stop to Oahu. Stay in a Waikiki Beach Hotel, close to the water and many attractions. On arrival, transfer to downtown Honolulu and the Waikiki district. Dine at Chuck’s Steak House, a longtime Hawaii favorite which was once a Sacramento landmark. (The arrival afternoon is at leisure.)

Day two begins with a trip to the World War II Valor in the Pacific National Monument at Pearl Harbor. Your visit includes the traditional ride to the Arizona Memorial by boat, plus time to explore the many new exhibits on the expanded grounds. The new memorial provides a much better tribute.

After a casual lunch, history unfolds at the Iolani Palace. Built in 1879, it was the royal residence of the Kalakaua Dynasty and is probably the state’s most historic building. Right next door is the capitol, and while it doesn’t lend itself well to tours, we will make a photo and information stop.

The third morning is actually the day the main group leaves Sacramento. Because of the time difference, we can make great use of our day after check out from the hotel. Board the shuttle bus for the ride to Doris Duke’s mansion outside downtown, Shangri La. Shangri La “…isn’t the product of any one person, but of a number of architects and decorators from all over the world, finally put together by me.”

Food & Fun in Hawaii – Kauai & The Big Island

9 Days, November 11th - 19th

Mark and Chris have created another “you’ve never done this” tour to the beautiful islands of Hawaii. This edition features 4 nights each on Kauai and The Big Island of Hawaii.

If you are a returning visitor to the islands, you will find this trip packed with unique attractions, activities and adventures. If this is your first trip to Hawaii, our itinerary will give you bragging rights among your friends because of the incredible experiences that are a part of your itinerary. Go flightseeing twice in private aircraft, taste local foods and meet local people. Our Hawaii tours are unlike any other. If you want a cookie-cutter tour, you’ll have to go with someone else. Sports Leisure Hawaii tours are the things dreams are made of. (You may also add 2 nights in Oahu at the beginning, featuring the new Pearl Harbor, Doris Duke’s Shangri La and the new Pearl Harbor memorial).

Key West has become one of our most popular destinations with our annual tour selling out every year, months ahead of departure. Indeed, next year is no exception. As we go to press, four seats remain for the 2016 departure. Key West is a pedestrian-friendly destination, and because of that, we walk to many attractions. For that reason, we do not recommend this tour for travelers with serious mobility issues. Dates and prices for January 2017 will be announced in February 2016.

Ghosts & Ghost Towns of Old Nevada

Be a part of a REAL ghost hunt and explore old ghost towns

Fly to Las Vegas, then trace a one way route through Nevada, searching for ghosts and visiting the towns they live in; over the majestic Sierra Nevada Mountains back to Sacramento.

Our Goodsprings Ghost Hunt and Haunted Las Vegas & Mobster Tour will be conducted by Robert George Allen. At the age of 7, Robert had his first ghost encounter when he was visited by the spirit of a family member who would sit at the foot of his bed. The deceased man would smile at young Robert and then his image would dissolve. His parents thought he had an overactive imagination. As Robert got older, he became a musician with an interest in hypnotism. His musical career took him to Vegas’ biggest showrooms over 25 years, but he never lost his interest in the paranormal. He created the Haunted Vegas Tour in 2004, and along with the Goodsprings Ghost Hunt, has received numerous awards from Trip Advisor and others. If you’re not a believer going in, you may be a believer coming out…

Progressive Portland, A Look at America's Most Interesting City

3 Days, June 23rd - 25th

From neighborhood food trucks to a hotel of tiny houses, The City of Roses is an eclectic place

A brand new way of seeing one of the Pacific Northwest’s most exciting cities. An exclusive tour that goes into the neighborhoods and is limited to just 22 travelers, so to insure a unique EXPERIENCE.

For the last couple of years now, a rumor has persisted in our city and it comes from city hall. “We want to transform Sacramento into a modern, progressive city…like Portland.” Quite the compliment to our neighbors to the north. Sacramento isn’t the first city to want to duplicate some of what you find in Portland.

The city’s unofficial motto is “Keep Portland Weird,” and the locals adhere to that, in ways big and small everyday. But perhaps a better motto might be “Keep Portland Different and Interesting.” Because that best describes Portland; different in cutting- edge ways, and a fascinating place to visit.

Last year, our Tiny Houses Tour got to see The Rose City in a different way, because there were only nine of us, traveling in a Sprinter van around town. It was very eye- opening. There are lots of places in Portland you simply cannot visit in a big motorcoach; wonderful neighborhoods that are an important part of the city. We decided then we would “do Portland differently.”

Currently in development is this new Portland itinerary for early next summer, a three-day visit which will include things like dinner with a view (from the 30th floor) at the Portland City Grill, or lunch and a scavenger hunt in the city’s renowned art museum. We’ll even slip across the river just before leaving to visit Mark’s favorite Farmer’s Market in Vancouver, so you can bring home amazing (edible) treasures of the Pacific Northwest with you!

Did you know you can ride an aerial tramway in the middle of the city? Or that Portland has a new streetcar system? Want to go for a ride? How about stopping in at a legendary
local donut store? Would you like to tour the Tiny House Hotel? (Pictured above, left).Perhaps have lunch in a pod of international food trucks? How about a short walking/tasting tour? These are the things the REAL Portland is about. It’s an exciting, progressive, vibrant city and we can’t wait to show it to you in ways you’ve never
seen before.

The package will include all the Sports Leisure extras you love, door-to-door airport service, dinner each night and breakfast each morning, plus a host of unique sightseeing. Some of your touring will be by streetcar and Sprinter van, which is why this exclusive tour is limited to just 22 people.

The itinerary will be announced in November. If you are interested in being
a part of this upscale, exclusive tour, call today and place your name on the Priority Notification List. That insures you will be notified as soon as the itinerary is released and have a chance to register ahead of the rest of the Travel Club. We expect the 3-day tour with air to be $1100-$1200 p.p./dbl., $1300-$1350 single (estimated prices).
