Sports Leisure Vacations is known for group travel, but did you know that we also help our clients with independent vacation travel? Maybe you didn’t know that you can book cruises with your family and friends directly with us and get the Sports Leisure service you are accustomed to—including our door-to-door service on most departures!
My name is Michael Downer and I am the Travel Agency Manager here at Sports Leisure Vacations. Many of you know me as the person who puts together the air schedules for our extended vacations. Before I came to Sports Leisure, I spent most of my 25 years in the travel business as a cruise specialist. My knowledge of and experience with all the major cruise lines help me match clients with just the right ship and sailing for their needs, interests, and traveling style. So no matter which cruise line or destination you are interested in—from American Queen Steamboat Company to Windstar Cruises, from transatlantics to river cruises—I can help you find just the right fit.

Travel in comfort aboard Holland America’s m/v Noordam
You’ve driven over it and alongside it so now it is time to cruise on it! Join Barbara aboard the m/s Dolphin for a 3-hour cruise up the Napa River, returning to view osprey nests on Mare Island and the Carquinez Bridges from below. This is a great trip for nature lovers, and those who love to explore familiar areas in new ways! A boxed lunch will be served during the cruise.
Celebrations of Canada with natural beauty
Sail from Florida to California on one of Holland America’s best-known ships, the m/v Westerdam. Spend one night in Fort Lauderdale before boarding the ship. Sailing from east to west provides you the advantage of getting the long, cross-country flight out of the way first, leaving just a short hop home from San Diego at the end of the cruise.
The 15-night cruise stops at Holland America’s private island, Half Moon Cay, and Cartagena, Columbia before its full transit of the Panama Canal, called by some the Eighth Wonder of the World. Workers in Panama recently completed a nearly 10-year expansion project that doubled the canal’s maritime traffic. Additional port calls include Puerto Caldera/Puntarenas (Costa Rica), where you can experience a tropical rainforest, Corinto (Nicaragua), Puerto Quetzal (Guatamala), and Acapulco and Cabo San Lucas (Mexico).
We continue to partner with Holland America Line for this adventure because of its commitment to service and because we know and believe in the quality of its ships, programs and shore excursions. The m/v Westerdam is a midsize ship which carries passengers with style and grace – it’s large enough to offer a host of exciting amenities but more personal and intimate than the “floating cities” of other cruise lines.
