We asked, and you responded…overwhelmingly! So come on all you self-proclaimed “foodies” – let’s go to Santa Rosa and get seriously fun about our food. On this overnight trip it’s all about the food. You are going to learn about food in a cooking demonstration and definitely get to taste some incredible food at places you may or may not have seen on TV and, at the end of your foodie journey, stop for dessert at a shop that makes gourmet cupcakes. Can you think of better way to end your trip –except maybe with a food fight?

Winter at the Ahwahnee

This trip is all about the Ahwahnee Hotel… enjoy the elegant brunch in the grand dining room, explore the history with a docent guided tour of the public areas, and stay one night in the recently redecorated rooms of this grand dame of National Park Hotels. And if you are fortunate, Mother Nature will deck the valley out in a beautiful fresh coat of fluffy snow throughout the night so you wake up to sparkling snowflakes on the meadows.

Long a favorite with Sports Leisure travelers, this short vacation getaway stars Amtrak’s Coast Starlight. With overnight stays at both ends of the rail adventure, this is an easy-paced, relaxed itinerary that reminds travelers of the romance of the rails. Due to limited overnight accommodations onboard the train, this tour is limited to 25 passengers.

Winding Through Weaverville

There aren’t many places in California that haven’t been checked out by Sports Leisure Travelers over the years, but we think (with the help of Public Television’s Huell Howser) we’ve found one; the historic town of Weaverville,nestled in the Trinity Alps, along the river of the same name.

For the sake of variety, we’ll travel old Highway 99, through Chico to Red Bluff, on the way up the valley; then head straight home on the interstate. Come and discover a rich part of California’s past in Trinity County.

US Olympic Gymnastic Trials

Here are the long-awaited details on our trip to see the very best gymnasts in the United States compete for an opportunity to represent our country in London only a few weeks later at the Olympics. Our package includes all four days of competition and beautiful accommodations at the Embassy Suites Hotel in nearby Milpitas. Add in a bit of sightseeing around San Jose and the mountains of Santa Cruz and you’ve got an outstanding getaway. We’ll even pick you up at your front door!

Broadway Pops in the Pines

For several years now Ramona has been talking about the big and wild trees of Prairie Creek State Park. Every chance she gets, she reads about the life that can be found high above the ground in the masses of the Sequoia Sempervirens, or coastal redwoods; and each time a tour travels up Highway 101 she wants to spend time walking through the trees. So this is the trip for those of you who want to spend some time out walking in the trees; and looking up into the heights for the mysteries captured there.
